Post-Conference Workshop

URANIUM EXPLORATION: BEYOND ISR & SEDIMENTARY DEPOSITS

Friday, 9 October 2026

The uranium industry is growing. The technical workforce needs to grow with it.

Developed by Educate-U, supported by SA’s Department for Energy & Mining (DEM), this workshop follows the earlier Uranium Exploration & ISR course, introducing Uranium exploration across other deposit types. Real-life examples are included with selected drill core and mineral boards at DEM’s impressive Tonsley Core Library facility.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Background of the element and its geochemistry in the exploration environment,
  • Summary of exploration deposit types,
  • Introduction into geochemical, geophysical exploration methodology & technology
  • Introduction to the OH&S issues that impact directly on exploration activities and the staff involved.

MEET YOUR PRESENTERS

ASHA RAO

Principle Geologist

View Biography

Asha Rao is a geologist with 20 years of experience in the minerals industry, having worked in uranium and gold mineral systems in a wide range of geological terranes, countries and resource companies, with and specific experience in in-situ recovery (ISR) of uranium. Her geological experience is broad based, from early-stage, ‘grass-roots’ exploration to ‘brownfields’, preproduction work. Asha has a proven technical ability in identifying new exploration targets and employing innovation to unravel the intricacies of mineral deposits.

GARY PRICE

Principal Geologist

View Biography

Gary Price is an experienced field geologist with more than 30 years of experience in mining and mineral exploration in Australia and overseas.

Gary commenced his career working in gold mining and project development in Western Australia and early experience also included exploration for diamonds on the Skeleton Coast, in Namibia.

Since 2005, Gary has been focussed on exploration and resource development for uranium projects in the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.

In 2009, he was instrumental in the formation of Bowgan Minerals Limited (now Spinnaker), a private equity-funded and Northern Territory focussed explorer whom has a specific focus on the development of new green fields exploration projects in under explored geological terrains.

Spinnaker Minerals currently manage two exploration projects in the Northern Territory and is well advanced in preparation for a near-term ASX listing which will generate the capital needed to conduct first-pass ‘proof of concept’ exploration drilling at both of its projects.

Gary is a member of AusIMM, AIG and until recently, held the position of Secretary, of the Geological, Exploration and Mining Services Association Northern Territory, Incorporated (GEMSA NT) since its inauguration in 2020.
